HOW TO
USE THIS WEBSITE: We are providing this website as an easy way for you to
get to know us and our wonderful products. You’ll find pictures of much of the
furniture we carry as well as links to a few of our manufacturers' web sites.
We change our actual showroom frequently, but anything you see on this site or
our manufacturers' sites is available. You will need to come visit us to make
your purchase, but if you’d like a price or availability quote via email (or
fax), you can use the forms provided.
We’ve also
designed this site to be educational. Click on “Finishes” to get helpful tips
on using water-based finishing products, creating special effects, and caring
for all-wood furniture. Click on “Resources” to learn about a wide variety of
wood species, find definitions of commonly used terms, and read through
important FAQs.
A
MESSAGE FROM GREG: We opened RTF FURNITURE because we know
first-hand the benefits of all-wood ready-to-finish furniture. We wanted to
create a warm, welcoming place to help others discover those same benefits. We
have developed precisely the kind of store where we like to shop! Quality
furniture and products, great selection, knowledgeable, friendly staff, and a
classy place to spend time!
Over the
years our family has purchased unfinished furniture for a variety of reasons.
None of us has any training or special talent, but we want real wood furniture,
and we know how we like it finished! Some pieces we bought to scratch the
creative itch – like the farm table and chairs for our lake house. We stained
the table top and seats, but we painted everything else black with some heavy
distressing (hammers, chains, nails, markers, sanding, etc!). It looks 100
years old!
Some
pieces we bought to complement what was already in a room. We inherited a great
old, dark well-worn sofa table and we needed an entertainment center to go with
it. We bought an unfinished piece, banged it up pretty well, and stained it a
dark espresso color. It looks like we inherited it, too! When we upgraded our
kitchen furniture we knew we had to have solid wood to withstand the abuse it
would take. Later, we came back for more and matched the table with barstools.
We even bought a chair for the kitchen desk and had an artist paint a motif on it to
match the wallpaper. Truly one-of-a-kind!
We needed
some fast functional furniture for a kid’s room, so we bought a basic pine
dresser and nightstand. No stain or paint – just several coats of clear
polyacrylic and wow! It’s the perfect complement to the bright bedspreads and
wall paint. On another occasion we needed to hide a computer in an unusual spot
in our den. The only place we found a uniquely sized piece to do the trick was
an unfinished furniture store. Knowing the kind of use it would get, real-wood
was a must!
